Milh (Salt)

Himalayan/Andaraani Gem Salt

Himalayan crystal salt is mined from a dried-up sea that existed 25 million years ago in the Himalayan Mountains. It is a pure, high-quality salt that contains 84 naturally occurring minerals and trace elements such as calcium, magnesium, potassium, copper and iron, trace minerals needed for optimum body function. Regular consumption of Himalayan salt provides essential minerals and trace elements that your body requires. It also balances electrolytes, assists in balancing the body's pH and increases circulation and conductivity.

Himalayan Salt, named Andaraani Salt by Ibn Al Qayyim, is mined in Khewra, Pakistan. Ibn Al Qayyim wrote a beautiful article on Salt in a book titled ‘Healing with the Medicine of the Prophet (pbuh)’

Narrated by Ibn-e-Majah on the authority of Anas Radi Allaho Anh "Salt is the SYED (best) of your curries". Syed actually means the leader, and why the salt is meant as the leader is because the taste of all curries is dependent on the salt

Al-Bazzar (in his Masnad) narrated that Prophet Muhammad Sallallaahu Alayhi Wa sallam said: "You will soon be (to the people) like what the salt represents to food; and the food's flavor does not become favorable unless there is salt in it."

Al-Baghawi said in his commentary on Quran that Abdullah Bin Umar Radi Allaho Anh related from Prophet Muhammad Sallallaahu Alayhi Wa sallam that he said, "There are four blessings that Allah Has Sent down to the earth from the heavens, iron, fire, water and salt".

Salt is favorable for people's bodies and food, it is beneficial when blended with any substance, including gold and silver, as it makes gold more yellowish and whitens the silver. Salt decomposes, cleanses, dries the thick humidity, strengthens and purifies the body and helps against open mangy sores.

When used as an eyeliner, especially the Gem salt (الأندرانى Andaraani ~ which is taken out from the mines) will remove the excess fat or flesh and the yellowish color from the eye. Salt also prevents malignant infections from spreading, works as a laxative and helps against Pleurisy when the stomach is anointed with it. Salt cleanses the teeth, prevents them from decaying, strengthens the gums, and makes them firm. There are many other benefits for the salt.

I have used the Pink Himalayan Salt as KOHL & Masha ‘Allah, it enforces the fluid to come out of the eyes immediately, Pink salt will be effective for reducing the fluid pressure of Glaucoma patients Insha'Allah. Grind it ultra-fine & then sieve with a muslin/cheese cloth before use. Never apply the ordinary table salt to your eyes!

If taken at empty stomach with hot water (you need it at least 3 teaspoons in a glass of water), it also serves as a laxative & relieves constipation. Those who have pain in feet, they should immerse the feet in hot water with Himalayan salt & the pain will be ease Insha'Allah.

As a Food Salt

For culinary use, simply dissolve the salt into any hot dish or use a grinder and mill directly onto food. It can be used the same as table salt, but it is purer and higher in minerals.

As a Bath and Body Salt

You may soak your body in Himalayan salt to combat water retention, soothe sore muscles, regulate your sleep, remove toxins from your body, and lower your blood pressure. Soaking allows the minerals and nutrients inherent in the salt to be delivered to your cells in the form of ions, making it easier for your body to absorb and utilize them. It can also improve the appearance of your skin and increase circulation.

Other Uses

This salt may be dissolved in water to make brine. Brine can be used internally and externally. Drinking a few drops of brine in a glass of spring water every day may help arthritis, rheumatism, gout and kidney and bladder stones -- among other physical ailments. Brine baths are recommended for detoxification, skin diseases, joint pain, and recovery after surgery. Brine may also be used in facial steams if you suffer from asthma, bronchitis or other ear, nose and throat discomforts. Poultices may be made with brine to treat wounds, acne, or pain from gout or arthritis.

Dental Hygiene

Himalayan salt can be used to maintain good oral hygiene. Add some of the salt to water, and let the crystals dissolve. Then use it for a good gargle to stop halitosis. If you have sore and bleeding gums, gargling three to four times a day with a Himalayan salt and water solution can help. An infected tooth can be painful and make your entire body hurt. Using Himalayan salt with water and swishing it around the sore tooth can help draw out the pathogens and kill bacteria and germs.
